Public Safety Communications Systems Consultant

Location and team
Macro Corporation, a KEMA Company, is seeking an experienced, self-motivated professional to provide consulting services related to radio communications technology integration within public safety and inter-state public authority operational environments. This fulltime position requires the successful candidate to be working from the client sites in New York City and northern New Jersey.
Tasks May Include
Public Safety (Homeland Security) Consultants are required to analyze the current system and operations methodologies, assess user needs, model information flow(s), develop alternative conceptual system designs, identify costs, perform trade-off analyses, manage implementations, validate testing results, and orchestrate system and user migration.
The expected role and responsibility of this assignment relate to supporting project activities for the migration of a land mobile radio system to a P25 technology. Focus areas include but are not limited to involvement in all phases of the project:
- Gathering and helping determine requirements,
- Performing requirements analysis,
- Contributing to development of technical performance documents for procurement of the system upgrade from EDACS 800 MHz to a P25 system
What we're asking
Our public safety projects require an in-depth technical/engineering experience with multiple systems and processes, including:
- P25 800 MHz Trunked Simulcast radio - both subscriber and fixed stations
- Dispatch and recording subsystems
- Radio engineering knowledge
- Point-to-point radio and other back haul technologies
- Standards and architectures for interoperable solutions
- Radio system management and administration
- Project management skills
Specifically this expertise is being sought for the P25 technology.
Candidate requirements include:
- BS degree in Electrical Engineering
- 5 years related technical experience
- 2 years supervisory experience
- Excellent oral, writing, presentation and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to travel about 5-20% of the time
- Must satisfactorily pass a background investigation
Preferred qualifications include:
- Advanced degrees
- Professional certifications and/or law enforcement certification
- Prior consulting experience
This is a U.S.-based position; applicants must be fully authorized to work in the U.S. Local candidates preferred.
