Scope of Position The Purchasing Manager will provide daily supervision and direction to the Purchasing Agents; s/he will oversee the fluid operation of the purchasing for goods/services within the hotel. Organizational Structure The Purchasing Manager will directly report to the Director of Purchasing; s/he will receive collaborative supervision and direction from the Assistant Financial Controller and Financial Controller. Duties and Supporting Responsibilities Supervise personnel engaged in buying, receiving and distributing materials, equipment, supplies and Food and Beverage products. Assist in all F&B purchases as well with all Purchase orders. Supervise and assist storeroom clerk, receiving and box handler making sure all S&P are followed and with their daily functions. Assist in conducting inventory. Create comparison reports of pricing of different companies to ensure appropriate purchasing Responsible for the purchase and pars of all printed and kitchen paper goods. Assist with the research of new projects. Prepare, review and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies, equipment and food and beverage. Negotiate with vendors. Attend Department Head Meeting. Motivate and direct people as they work resolving conflicts that come up and finding appropriate solutions. Maintain records of discrepancy reports of wine room and report to the appropriate Managers. Responsible for the supervision of all purchases deliveries ensuring quality, price and service Assist with F&B purchases Maintain and update pars orders for all storeroom items. Requirements Mandatory Must possess 1+ year of direct supervisory or management experience; preferably in food and beverage or purchasing. Must be able to work a flexible schedule that may include early mornings, late nights, and weekends. Must have excellent communication skills with fluency in English required. Must have strong mathematical skills, technical aptitude and hotel operation knowledge. Proficiency with computer skills is required; must possess strong knowledge base of Excel, Word, Microsoft Office, Outlook, etc. Proven negotiation skills; prior experience working in a negotiation driven position is required. Demonstrated strong organization skills are required; must have experience working in a fast paced environment with changing priorities while maintaining superior organization of files, emails, phone calls, etc. Must have a commitment to follow all MOHG corporate policies and procedures as they relate to Purchasing. Knowledge of HACCP standards is required. Prior experience and exposure to cost related analysis is required. Desirable Bachelor's Degree in hospitality or related field is preferred Multi-lingual abilities preferred. Prior experience in a hotel operational supervisor or management role is preferred. Prior experience in a unionized hotel work environment is preferred. (ref. 48880)
