Due to our continued growth, there is an excellent opportunity for a Purchasing Specialist with proven expertise and success in the pharmaceutical and/or biologics space. Reporting to the Director of Clinical Supply Chain, the Director will be responsible for analyzing and maintaining sufficient purchased material inventory levels. The Purchasing Specialist will also be responsible for the purchasing activities for those materials including on-time delivery in an MRP environment to support the Master Production Schedule (MPS).
Roles and Responsibilities
Determine optimum order lot sizes and inventory safety stock levels to maximize material availability and warehouse utilization
Generate Purchase Orders, communicate POs to suppliers, and perform PO maintenance in order to maintain identified safety stock targets
Communicate with suppliers regarding shipping performance, open POs, expedite/defer requests, and other issues
Resolve problem shipments with suppliers, receiving issues, packaging standards, etc.
Review fill rate performance on a daily basis and initiate corrective actions where necessary
Take an active role in communicating service and inventory issues internally across departments (including Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, etc.) and with management
Analyze, summarize, and communicate conclusions generated from system reports and recommend improvements
Manage obsolete/excess inventory
Maintain and input material master data into planning systems
Adhere to corporate governance of Regulatory compliance processes related to material operations
Negotiate pricing and other purchasing efficiencies with vendors
Participate in the identification of alternate vendors for critical supplies where possible
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Supply Chain
