JOB SUMMARY: Describe the overall purpose of the job and the contribution that is expected.
Ensuring the implementation and maintenance of Quality Management systems for La Brea Bakery on specific tasks and project basis.
MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Describe the key responsibilities expected of your job, in priority order.
Responsible for updating and controlling documents related to products photos and issuing sets for Quality and Production.
Responsible for updating and controlling documents related to new specifications in conjunction with the QA Manager and recollection of outdated specifications from all departments.
Participate in product inventory/hold meetings, production schedule meetings
Maintain an inventory of supplies requested by the QA department. Request QA supplies through the SAP system and support sanitation if needed and maintain expense sheet updated.
Responsible to schedule, train, and coach QA tech. Create and update QC tech schedules as needed
Conduct monthly internal auditing in conjunction with HACCP Coordinator Also, Glass/Perspex auditing, and pest control audits in conjunction with the HACCP Coordinator
Thermometer and Scales calibration program updates
Review/revise GMP's and reported findings. Participate in foreign material reviews as needed
Responsible to add rework instruction and verify hold log is updated on daily basis and control hold & foreign material related records. Assist QA Manager in reviewing of non-conforming product and providing rework instructions
Conduct daily CCP records verification, control CCP records, and take corrective actions as needed
Coordinate mock traces and mass balance exercises
Conduct daily bread evaluation with management team
Responsible for completing customer specifications and product information sheets and reviewing Quality Assurance submissions to customers
Responsible to coordinate and conduct weekly/monthly food safety audit. Responsible to keep FSQA scorecard updated. Responsible to conduct GAP assessment audits related to GMP and food safety, and maintain workbook updated
Responsible for the daily verification of QA technicians tasks completion
Assist in planning & delegating tasks to meet QA objectives
Send samples to lab for testing as per the frequency
Work as back up for HACCP coordinator and QA tech as needed
Other tasks as needed
Education: Minimum bachelor s degree in a Food science related discipline or minimum 2.5 years of quality assurance experience. Ability to communicate in both English and Spanish desirable. Industry Experience beneficial, not essential, Proficient in windows based applications such as Outlook, Microsoft- Excel, Powerpoint, Word Minimum

Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to be standing or walking approximately 30% of the time, including occasional walking on uneven ground. The employee is occasionally required to smell. Frequent flexing, extending and turning of the neck and head are required. This position requires employee to have adequate communicating and observational skills, including seeing, speaking and hearing, due to the operation of various types of moving equipment used in the bakery. These requirements are for the safety of the employee and co-workers. These requirements are also necessary for collecting and distributing information to staff, and communicating with co-workers. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and color vision.
Typical Work Schedule: 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday Flexible hours/shifts
