Supervises receiving, in-process and/or final inspection processes for electrical, electronic and mechanical products manufactured by Cubic Manufacturing and Procurement (CMP) or supplied by suppliers. Supervises teams at 2 locations (San Diego and Otay Mesa). Ensures all tasks are performed within budget and schedule constraints, and manages inspection transactions within the Enterprise Resource Planning Tool (ERP). This position typically works under general supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority.

Supervises and coordinates activities of employees engaged in inspection, whose functions include: determining measurement techniques, evaluating and interpreting engineering drawings, military specifications, procurement documents, shipping documents, etc. pertaining to inspection of electronic and mechanical products, and evaluating packing and packaging of items for delivery.

Supervises preparation and use of electronic and mechanical test and inspection procedures, checklists and special research techniques.

Processes material transactions in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system - SAP

Supervises design and manufacture of inspection tooling, gauges, and accept/reject devices. Make final accept/reject decisions of parts.

When authorized by customer contract, makes decisions with engineering for use-as-is or repair actions.

Approves/disapproves corrective actions submitted by Shop Supervisor and Manufacturing Engineers.

Coordinates activities with receiving, purchasing, drafting, design engineering, program management, contracts and subcontracts departments to assist in problem resolution.

Assists in resolving problems by meeting with and or Interfacing with Purchasing, Engineering, Production Control, Manufacturing Engineering and Quality Engineering on clarifying issues.

Assists in preparation of cost proposals and task estimates.

Interfaces with supplier and customer representatives on matters relating to quality control.

Participates in customer audits and pre-award surveys.

Balances workload among inspectors to meet priority schedules and ensure inventory accuracy

Two years of technical college courses, or equivalent, plus five years experience in various inspection and/or manufacturing areas, including supervisory or lead responsibility. SAP experience a plus in this role. Must be proficient in interpreting engineering and/or manufacturing drawings, purchase orders, military specifications, and customer quality requirements. Good oral and written communication skills required. Must have 20-20 vision or correctable to 20-20, depth perception with no color blindness. Able to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to travel both domestically and internationally.
