This Advanced Quality Planning Engineer leads advanced quality planning activities for new product platforms ensuring customer-driven design criteria are effectively realized through robust manufacturing processes that minimize post-launch quality costs. CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (others may be added): Lead, facilitate and execute advanced quality planning (AIAG APQP) activities in direct support of new product development programs. Participate in design reviews and assist design engineers in identifying product improvements, key product characteristics, necessary process controls and product validation tests. Drive critical parameter management traceability from customer-focused, critical-to-quality requirements down to critical feature control plans supporting expected process capabilities. Assist project teams in the proper and consistent use design and process failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) so that high risk items are proactively identified and mitigated in the product and process development stages. Work closely with supplier quality engineering to support component qualification (PPAP) efforts such that purchased material is effectively integrated with internal control plans. Conduct post-launch audits of production lines to ensure all required controls and tests are being properly executed. Lead resolution of quality related issues in newly launched products including active management of early launch containment activities. Develop and implement containment plans, root cause corrective actions and revised control methods as required. Develop and manage relationships with program leaders, design teams, corporate and local quality personnel and others to ensure consistent application of advanced quality planning methods. Support, maintain and enhance the ISO9000 Quality System, assuring organizational adherence; promote system improvement via participation in product, process, and Quality System audits. Acquire, develop and provide training in quality disciplines, tools, and techniques as required. Other duties as assigned to support business goals and objectives. Percentage of Travel: 5% Min. Yrs. Experience: 3 years Education Standard: Bachelors Degree JOB REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Bachelors Degree (Engineering preferred)and at least 3 years of product development, manufacturing and/or supply chain experience related to quality engineering required; OR an equivalent combination of education and workexperience required. ESSENTIAL SKILLS and/or KNOWLEDGE: Automotive industry background preferred. Technical knowledge/expertise in machining, metrology and/or testing process disciplines preferred. Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt certification preferred. American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) preferred or must be willing to work toward certification.
