SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is for a Systems Analyst Manager within the Drug Safety and Public Health (DSPH) department within the R&D group of Gilead Sciences. The Systems Analyst will serve as the face of the DSPH Systems team to identify and quantify how technology could be leveraged to help the DSPH department to meet its goals and obligations to Gilead Sciences.

The role of the Systems Analyst is to serve as the interface between the business users and the IT functions supporting R&D. The responsibilities include:

Lead the effort to assist DSPH business staff to identify the appropriate technical tool and solution to address needs and priorities
*

Lead meetings and conversations to map out the existing process(es) in order to identify the problem area(s)
*

Work with stakeholders, including IT and DSPH management, to create the project proposals needed to feed into the Portfolio Management process
*

Actively research the Pharmacovigilance (PV) and R&D systems and tools market to keep up-to-date with current and upcoming trends
*

Participate in projects to implement tools, systems and solutions
*

Manage the Demand Management lists of new needs



The perfect candidate would have experience in systems development within a Life Sciences company. This candidate should like interacting with a wide range of business users across the organization and documenting the information gathered in forms of Business Requirements, Process Flows, Business Charts, etc, in Word, Excel and PowerPoint. As such, the candidate should have excellent written, speaking and listening skills. The role will report to the (Associate) Director of DSPH Systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB FUNCTIONS

The role of the Systems Analyst Manager is to serve as the interface between the business users and the IT functions supporting R&D. The responsibilities include:

Assist with the design, implementation and growth of the new Systems Analyst role and function with the Systems team.

Assist with the design, implementation and adoption of a Demand Management process within Systems.
*

Once implemented, serve as the primary responsible role for Demand Management.
*

Serve as a mentor and change champion within the Systems team and DSPH department.
*

Lead efforts to assist DSPH business staff to identify the appropriate technical tool and solution to address needs and priorities
*

Lead meetings and conversations to map out the existing process(es) in order to identify the problem area(s)
*

Work with stakeholders, including IT and DSPH management, to create the project proposals needed to feed into the Portfolio Management process

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Knowledge Requirements: Possesses extensive understanding and application of computer and systems development principles, including Business Requirements gathering. Experience in the R&D space is preferred, while general experience within Life Sciences industry is a must.
Change Management: Identifies the steps needed for organizational change and put measures in place to achieve successful implementations.

Presentation Skills: Possesses the maturity and emotional intelligence to engage audiences of varying backgrounds in order to elicit information and influence change.

Problem Solving: Provides technical and process solutions to a wide range of difficult problems. Solutions are innovative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organization objectives.

Discretion/ Latitude: Works under limited direction after a training period. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions. Work is reviewed periodically upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.

Impact: Contributes to the completion of specific programs, projects or responsible for individual business targets. Failure to obtain results or erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in serious program delays and considerable expenditure of resources or loss of sales.

Liaison (Internal & External Influence): Frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts. Represents the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.
10+ Years with BA, BS, and/or relevant experience
8+ Years with MS, MBA
