REGISTERED NURSE OPERATING ROOM

Hartford Hospital is home to 43 suite OR. We are ranked among the Top 10 in the country for experience with Robotic Surgery. Hartford Hospital is also home to the first hybrid operating room, the first of its kind in Connecticut. The ORs stimulating work environment includes all specialties, cardio-thoracicperipheral vascular, orthopedic, neurologic, general, urologic, gynecologic, DaVinci robotic, plastic reconstructive and ambulatory surgery. Hartford Hospitals OR performs 23,000 plus procedures and has 43 Continuous Operating rooms. The model design for the OR is both Core and Cluster based. The Core runs 247 and supports general surgery, traumas, liver, kidney, GI, plastics, robotic, and oral surgeries. The Cluster supports Orthopaedic, Neuro, Cardiovascular and peripherals. OR Nurses work 8-hour, 10-hour or 12- hour shifts depending upon the needs of the cluster. The OR is very supportive of education for its nurses and provides a supportive framework of orientation. Nursing orientation is very supportive and depending upon the experience of the nurse the length of orientation can last up to 3 months. Six months nursing experience required.
