JOB DESCRIPTIONAPPLY GENERAL SUMMARY/OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
Working under the supervision of a Principal Investigator, Senior Research Assistant, or Manager and following established policies and procedures, provides assistance on clinical research studies. May be responsible for the following activities: recruiting and evaluating patients for studies, collecting and organizing patient data, scheduling patients for study visits, performing clinical tests such as phlebotomy, EKGs, etc, maintaining and updating data generated by the study.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Provides assistance on clinical research studies as per studies guidelines and protocols.
2.Recruits and evaluates potential study patients. Per protocol instruction, conducts telephone interviews or schedules patient for study visit and screening. May be required to perform clinical test such as phlebotomy, EKGs, vital signs, coordinate visits and specimen collection.
3.Interacts with patients/subjects with regard to study, including patient education, procedural instruction, follow-up. May serve as a liaison between patient and physician.
4.Responsible for collecting data and maintaining patient information database for study. May be required to input data, do minimum analysis and run various reports. Maintains patients records as part of record keeping function.
5.Responsible for mailing various study information or packets to study participants.
6.Answers any phone calls and inquiries regarding study protocol. Refers participants to principal investigator or co-investigators.
7.Monitors and sets up any needed equipment.
8.Maintains inventory and orders supplies when necessary.
9.All other duties, as assigned.
BA or BS degree required. New graduate with relevant course or project work.

Excellent interpersonal skills are required for working with the study participants.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Knowledge of clinical research protocols.
Knowledge of computer programs, databases, etc. including excel, word, and PowerPoint.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize a variety of tasks.
Careful attention to detail.
Ability to demonstrate professionalism and respect for subjects rights and individual needs.
Simple statistical programming.
General office environment. The candidate will be required to handle biological specimens and follow universal precautions for blood protection against pathogens. He/she will also handle various pieces of electronic equipment. Some heavy lifting and/or transporting may also be necessary from time to time.
