RESEARCH ASSISTANT II, Boston Rise, 40hrs
This individual will assist with recruitment/retention activities and carry out yearly assessments of subjects in a clinical research project, Boston RISE (Rehabilitative Impairment Study of the Elderly) [www.bostonrise.org], a NIH funded clinical research study under the direction of the Principal Investigator. This is a 5-year longitudinal cohort study among older primary care patients at risk for disability. Participants will undergo a 2-visit assessment at baseline and annually over 2 years. Falls and hospitalizations will be tracked with quarterly follow-up phone calls. The Research Assistant will be responsible for scheduling appointments for subject assessments, assessing subjects on a yearly basis using the procedures outlined in the study manual of procedures, recording progress for each individual in the study, and assisting with other administrative tasks associated with the study as designated by the PI. This individual must have good communication and interpersonal skills.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in physical therapy, exercise physiology, exercise science or a related field.
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
Individuals with experience in providing care to healthy and mobility-limited older adults are highly valued.
Clinical research experience is highly valued.
Technical Skills
Good computer skills to aid in management of databases used to record assessment data and progress.
Good interpersonal skills written and oral.
Behavioral Skills
Must be flexible, possess excellent interpersonal skills and have a sense of humor
Must enjoy a stimulating, challenging and somewhat pressured environment
Must be able to work independently
Must have strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Must be able to work successfully with a diverse team of researchers
