FULL TIME MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor s degree from an accredited college or university or a Master s degree. The following related degrees will be accepted: Counseling, Social Work, Human Services, Education, Human Sciences, Law, Behavioral Sciences, Human Development, Psychology, Social Policy, Sociology, Public Administration, Education, Community Development, Health Science, Political Science, and Criminal Justice/Criminology. Must have one (1) year experience working with children and families in a foster care or case management environment. Ability to make presentations and provide training before large groups. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must possess a valid driver s license from the state in which you reside, must have a good driving record and be insurable under LCI s policy. Must receive passing score on the Introduction to Child Protection written assessment and field based assessment.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist and guide potential relative and non-relative caregiver s through the home study approval process. Participate in any conflict resolution relative and non-relative caregivers may need in order to become approved; use professional judgment to help the family resolve barriers preventing approval or any other issues during approval process. Conduct relevant background checks and screening of potential relative and non-relative caregivers to be sure an appropriate placement can be made. Gather information necessary to make required assessments and home study recommendations. Meet with potential relative and non-relative caregivers as needed. Conduct study of potential relative and non-relative caregivers home and assess whether it is appropriate for children; decide whether children placed in relative and non-relative caregivers homes will be safe in the home. Observe and monitor potential relative and non-relative caregivers through assessment period and decide whether or not the parents and the home are suitable for dependent children. Document observations, assessments and contacts in compliance with Florida law. Participate in staffings, and other placement related meetings; problem-solve with other professionals; provide professional judgment, knowledge and insight to team members, and make recommendations to the team regarding whether potential relative and non-relative caregivers should be approved. Coordinate with case management placement staff to provide appropriate homes for specialized placement needs.
