The hospital is the city of Salemsnbsp;largest private employer, with approximately 3,500 full and part-time employees.p pHeres a chance to learn more about our units within the Adult Health Services Division:p bJointb bReplacement Centerb bof Excellence - 6Sb A 25 bed unit specifically for patients with total or partial joint replacements, unit is open Monday - Friday only.nbsp; This unit houses the Joint Replacement Center of Excellence. p class=c1Clinical Observation Unit - 6NWp pA 17-25 bed observation unit for patients that need further observation and evaluation but have an estimated length of stay of 24-48 hours. This unit includes a high volume of patients with chest pain, RO MI, Heart Failure, abdominal pain of unknown etiology and syncope.p p class=c1General Surgery - 5NWp pA 25 bed unit (3 beds are swing beds with 5NE) that provides care for all General Surgery patients. There is a 16 bed telemetry capacity that is shared with 5NE and this is remotely monitored on 5NE.nbsp; This unit includes the Bariatric Surgery patients and houses our Bariatric Center of Excellence.p p class=c1Medical Surgical Oncology - 5NEp pA 22 bed unit for blended medical and surgical oncology patients.nbsp; There is a 16 bed telemetry capacity that is shared with 5NW.nbsp; Nurses on this unit will obtain their chemotherapy administration certification within one year.nbsp; This unit includes 2 suite rooms for leukemia andor end of life care for patients and their families. The services of Salem Cancer Institute are integrated with this unit to create a holistic approach to the care of oncology patients throughout the entire course of their cancer treatment.p p class=c1Medical Unit - 5Sp pA 35 bed unit for general medical patients with a growing focus on care of geriatric patients.nbsp; There is a geriatric CNS (Clinical Nurse Specialist) to help support this unit. This unit serves as the training center for our Adult Health Services new graduate nurses.
