The position CV Quality Data Abstractor performs concurrent reviews
and data abstraction on patients for purposes of ensuring completion
and compliance with NCDR, STS, CCORP Registries and quality
improvement projects related to the cardiovascular service line. The
position reviews the medical records and works to identify patients
who meet registry inclusion criteria. After identification of patients, all
data elements are abstracted per registry requirements. The CV Quality
Data Abstractor works with nursing and medical staff, providing
education related to NCDR, STS, and CCORP Registries, facilitate
appropriate actions to abstract data elements for each of the registries
and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team in quality improvement
projects. The CV Quality Data Abstractor demonstrates subject matter
expertise in NCDR, STS, and CCORP data definition and elements.


A. Licensure / Certification/ Registration: 1. RN require, BSN preferred.
2. BLS required.
B. Education: Graduate of approved nursing school.
C. Experience: Minimum of 2 years cardiac or Critical Care experience showing
progressive level of responsibility within areas of responsibility, as
well as a minimum of 2 years of data collection, process and analysis
strongly preferred.
D. Special Qualifications: Treats all information and data within the scope of the position with
appropriate confidentiality and security.
Cooperates fully in all risk management activities and investigations.
Knowledgeable of observes and complies with hospital safety policies,
emergency procedures, and standard precautions
Maintains required competencies.
Identifies own professional needs and establishes personal goals
Evaluates personal performance in relationship to personal
and organizational goals.
