JOB DUTIES:

Under general supervision provide professional nursing care of patient. Assess plan, develop, document and evaluate patient care plans. Provide guidance to team members by supervising nursing interventions and assigning related tasks. Assess patient, family and staff learning needs and promote effective working relationships.

Direct Patient care duties of Hematology/Oncology Adult Patients, primarily, and those undergoing ongoing infusion treatments for their condition, including chemotherapy, biologic agents, supportive care with transfusions and hydration and providing injections. The nurse will be responsible in performing comprehensive patient assessments and report any findings appropriately to ensure all healthcare needs are satisfied. The nurse will work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team in clarifying any orders, treatment plans and making any clinical decisions. The nurse will implement orders and execute standardized nursing practices per the protocols and guidelines set by the organization and any regulatory/governing bodies.





JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, current active California R.N. licensure. BSN preferred. Clinical skills applicable to nursing specialty, Oncology. Ability to perform historical, physical and behavioral status assessments of patients using appropriate framework. Demonstrated skill in the delivery of patient care, utilizing team, and total, primary or functional systems. Skill in implementing appropriate nursing interventions on a consistent basis. Writing skills to document accurately interventions and patient response. Ability to develop and implement and evaluate patient care plan actively involving patients, family, and staff. Knowledge of POMR charting. Skill in setting priorities, organizing workload to effectively administer direct patient care. Skill in speaking English clearly and distinctly to interpret and describe patient assessments and identify nursing interventions and direct staff. Ability to work effectively with stress and in crisis situations Ability to comply with departmental standards on punctuality, attendance, dress code and varied work schedules. Knowledge and practice in the proper use of safe body mechanics.

BSN required

2 years or greater of oncology experience required and 2 years of chemotherapy infusion experience preferred. Active Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification. BCLS
