JOB DUTIES:

The Psychiatric Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Specialist is a registered nurse whose practice is in nursing education and who facilitates lifelong learning for nursing staff in the UCLA Health System. The NPD Specialist develops, implements, evaluates, and revises programs of orientation, inservice-training, workshops, and continuing education based on assessed needs; provides direct services and/or consultation to the design, presentation, and evaluation of educational offerings. Within each of these role functions, the NPD Specialist acts as a role model, change agent, advocate for nursing practice, and expert in use of educational methods.



JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Current BLS Certification

Current RN License

Nursing Professional Development Certification- preferred

Master's degree required, MSN in Nursing Education- preferred

3 years of recent acute psych experience



Skills, Knowledge and Abilities



1) Knowledge of development, implementation and interpretation of Needs Assessments

2) Knowledge of Adult Learning Theory

3) Knowledge of Regulatory Agency requirements

4) Knowledge of program evaluation theory and methods

5) Knowledge of program development, implementation and evaluation

6) Ability to act as consultant in appropriate areas of expertise; prepare reports and presentations

7) Professional working relationship with nursing and interdisciplinary Colleagues
