Facility: Mercy Woodstock Medical Center at Woodstock
Department: WOODSTOCK CARDIOLOGY CLINIC (11726100)
**This position will travel between Mercy Harvard Hospital and Mercy Woodstock with the physician**
JOB SUMMARY: Rooms patient and collects patient assessment data. Administers injections and medications and performs other patient care procedures as directed and according to established criteria. Assists physician during treatment, testing, and examinations. Maintains timely flow of patients. Provides direct patient care in the clinic including educating patients/family on diagnostic and operative procedures. Coordinates patient admissions. Triage patient calls. Acts as a liaison between physician, patient, and hospital staff. Documents patient care. Reviews and maintains charts. Responds to incoming telephone calls, and performs telephone triage of patients. Follows up on patient care as needed. Assists in developing patient educational material. Assists in developing and implementing QA & I polices and procedures for the clinic. May be required to work flexible hours and overtime during peak periods. Performs other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Explains procedures and treatments to patient to gain cooperation, understanding, and allay apprehension. Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patient.
Prepares equipment and aids Physician during treatment and examination of patient. Prepares rooms, sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures. Assists in procedures by handing items to physician or other medical practitioner. Performs approved nurse treatments and procedures.
Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess condition of patient. Documents nursing history and physical assessment for assigned patients. Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques.
Responds to life saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocol.
Initiates a patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician and/or policy including patient and family instruction.
Rotates among various clinical services and duties as needed. Participates in department quality improvement activities.
