Under the direct supervision of the Medical Director and the Clinic Administrator, provide direct patient care for a diverse patient population primarily in the Iris Cantor- Women s Health Center and secondarily other Ambulatory Care Practices. Works with Internists, specialists, fellow, residents, medical students, nursing, Patient Services and Ancillary Services.

The clinical nurse is a professional Registered Nurse who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame and provides care to these patients using the nursing process in accordance with the standards of professional nursing practice. The clinical nurse performs in professional roll as described by the American Nurse Association (ANA); engaging in activities related to ethics, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality improvement, leadership, collaboration, professional practice evaluation, resources utilization, environmental health, and patient advocacy as appropriate to clinical nursing practice.


Knowledge of all instruments and supplies to perform physical examinations and/or procedures. Ability to take vital signs, administer medications and obtain drug refills as needed. Ability to recognize abnormal laboratory values and report to the physician. Knowledge of symptomatology of common and/or life threatening medical problems. Keyboard literacy skills to access and input data in computerized logging systems. Possess license issued by the State of CA Board of Registered Nurses. Possession of current CPR certification/BCLS. Possessed of EKG, Phlebotomy, and IV certification. Interpersonal skills in maintaining a cooperative working environment with the physicians, staff, and all health providers. Ability to accurately handle phone messages and prescription refills. Sufficient written and spoken English skills to communicate clearly with a wide range of individuals in daily operations and emergency situations. Demonstrates knowledge of current nursing practice, applicable to ambulatory care practice.

BSN required or MSN preferred. Greater than 6 months nursing experience. Ability to complete a Nursing physical assessment. Skill in developing a plan of care including setting goals, monitoring and documenting progress. Ability to implement interventions that are pertinent to goals established in the plan of care. Ability to evaluate the effective of interventions toward the attainment of established goals and to recognize the need to reassess or reset goal parameters. Ability to delegate tasks in a management style that is consistent with promoting leadership and teamwork. Knowledge base to provide education to patients, families, and other staff regarding clinical and patient care issues.
