Job Description

Timken Aerospace manufactures precision bearings for engines, gearboxes, accessories, airframe controls and landing wheels. From turbine engines and gearboxes to helicopter transmissions and auxiliary power units and more, Timken Aerospace provides products help private, commercial and military aerospace customers fly high.

Perform diversified duties to set-up and operate all machines in the Roller Manufacturing Area including Turning, Centerless Grind, Plunge/Surface Grind, Roller Chamfer Corner Grind, OD Hone machines and related Quality Control equipment to produce/manufacture roller bearing components in accordance with company/customer specifications and quality standards within the limitations of accepted practice.

Work from and interpret drawings, specifications, charts, tables, lot followers, various precision measuring instruments, verbal and written instructions from supervisor.

Work with various hand tools, gauges, Turning, Grinding, Honing, Polishing machines and equipment, and related tools and equipment.

Set-up and operate such machines as: Roller Turning machines, Centerless Grinding machines, Plunge Grind: Surface Grinders, Roller Chamfer Corner Grind, OD Hone on rolling and inner/outer races. Select/perform appropriate machine tooling, feeds, speeds, caming, blade positions, tooling alignments/adjustments, wheel angles, dressing techniques, stone selections, roll graph/speeds on appropriate machines to achieve/maintain proper visual/dimensional quality and cycle time of product using specified gauging for required operations within required tolerances. Make necessary adjustments/corrections to proceed with production.

Visually and dimensionally check first piece produced; if not within tolerances required, make necessary adjustments or corrections required to proceed with production. Perform frequent spot
inspections during production runs to assure all specifications are achieved. Perform all necessary production set-up/operate duties to process raw stock through to finished product. Use chain fall to change wheels as required.

Additional duties may include: adequately handling hazardous waste materials, working with Engineering personnel on new type bearings, performing tumbling operations, working in Gardener, OD, and Turn areas as assigned. Inspect own work; correct/report
detected discrepancies to supervisor.

Train employees as required. Record appropriate data on designated forms as required.

Maintain necessary records. Move materials in the performance of duties or as directed. Detect and report improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials and unusual conditions to
supervisor. Maintain work areas and equipment in a cleaned and orderly condition. Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations.

Perform other related duties as required or directed.

High school diploma or GED required and over 3 years up to and including 4 years experience or as determined by the Hiring Manager and Human Resources.
