Facility: Bassett Medical Center at Cooperstown
Department: Reg Cancer Prog-Radiation Onc
The Radiation Oncology Manager reporting to the Administrative Director of the Bassett Cancer Institute and with guidance from the Chief of Radiation Oncology oversees technical staff and the day-to-day operations of the Department of Radiation Oncology. Specifically, the Radiation Oncology Manager will oversee physicists, dosimetrists and radiation therapists including their productivity and quality. The Radiation Oncology Manager will assure the safe and efficient functioning of the department by assuring that appropriate staffing, equipment and supplies are available for safe, high quality radiation therapy services. The Radiation Oncology Manager provides financial input with responsibility for accurate billing and input into the radiation oncology portion of the overall Cancer Institute budget. This individual is responsible for assuring appropriate policies and procedures are in place and being followed and assuring that there is a program for performance improvement for the Department of Radiation Oncology. Finally the Radiation Oncology Manager will also perform therapy and simulation procedures as needed to provide support to the program, with 10% of their total time directed in this way.
Minimum Requirements:
Education/Qualifications:
Graduate of accredited four-year radiation therapist training program. Bachelor s Degree required.
Experience:
Experienced as a radiation therapist is required
2 years of management experience or leadership experience required
Licensure/Certificates:
ARRT (T) required
NYS Registration as a Radiation Therapist required
BLS certification required
Skills:
Able to communicate effectively with and motivate to excellent performance physicians, physicists, dosimetrists therapists and others.
Capable of performing simulations and delivering prescribed doses of radiation to patients according to the departmental policies and procedures.
