The Recreation Supervisor is responsible for planning, scheduling and implementing programming of all recreation, leisure and sport programs, and activities at Stonewall Resort. The primary goal of this department and position is to provide diverse recreational opportunities and promote guest of all ages to participate in developed programs. The Recreation Supervisor participates in the design and development of said programs, operating goals, objectives, and protocols. Serves as primary point of both internal and external representation and liaison with respect to program implementation and operational matters, and provides technical/professional and programmatic guidance and support. Recreation Supervisor is responsible for constantly evaluating the effectiveness of programs and identifying areas of improvement and new program needs. JOB DESCRIPTION Perform all duties in a professional manner and in accordance with company policies. Actively promotes participation in activities for guests and groups. Prepares signage and announcement information. Develops recreation activities and works with appropriate departments to ensure smooth flow of information and communication of needs. Develop an in-house information sheet for recreation activities to be distributed to all departments. Updates, prepares, and distributes the Stonewall Today information piece. Ensures that Family Run Rooom and all other activities and events are ready for operation. Promotes program to in-house guests to grow participation. Full knowledge of, and ability to communicate information about, programs including family fun room, Naturalist program, and recreational activities. Must be able to operate, understand, and train staff to use Micros System. Ability to develop efficient and effective weekly schedules for staff based on program needs and occupancy levels. Ability to supervise recreation staff and develop personnel. Flexibility to work a varied schedule due to business levels and industry demand. Significant variations in schedule will occur with this position. Follow all safety procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Maintain grooming standards as outlined in employee handbook and departmental training. Ability to work in a busy atmosphere, meets critical deadlines, and maintains excellent customer service. Ability to ensure other team members perform at same levels. Ability to greet customers on the telephone and face-to-face in a pleasant, welcoming manner and explain property offerings. Always practice the service communication skills- ensuring Four Diamond Service. Carry out the policies and procedures of Stonewall Resort and Benchmark Hospitality International, while maintaining the highest degree of professionalism and a teamwork atmosphere. Ensures that Recreation team members operate within the same guidelines. Must be knowledgeable with all services within the hotel. Ensures a clean, safe and orderly work area is maintained at all times. Attend meetings as required. Assist immediate supervisor in creating Skill Training Outlines for the Recreation Department. Use STOs to train employees. Provide assistance in other job classifications as determined necessary by immediate supervisor. Complete bi-weekly maintenance checks on all equipment and resolve any discrepancies immediately. Train staff on all equipment safety and ensure that safety training is given by the staff to Resort guests at equipment issue. Provides input on employee reviews and disciplinary actions. Complete daily equipment inventories (paddle boats, kayaks, canoes, paddles, life vests, etc.) Completes daily reports on activities within the department. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED A combination of education and/or relevant Recreation-based experiences is required for this position. This may include a Bachelors Degree from an accredited University in Parks and Recreation or Related field, one (1) year of experience running events and tournaments, and/or one (1) year of experience with recreational, naturalist, or childrens programs. Proven leadership skills. Desire and ability to initiate, develop and execute a variety of activities. Must demonstrate a desire to constantly improve operations and offerings. Must have a pleasant speaking voice, excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must have excellent computer skills. Strong organizational skills General knowledge of flora & fauna and recreation programs is very helpful. Willing to research area history and stay abreast of current ecological trends. Willingness to work with a variety of parties associated with the project, including DNR, State Parks, and the Corps of Engineers, in the development of programs and processes. Ability to lead various recreation activities and events and engage guests in informative and entertaining dialogue. Professional and polished customer service skills.
