Regional Communications Manager
Part Time Regular
Under the direction of the Regional Director of Marketing and Communications:
Work in concert with National Marketing and the regional fundraising teams to further the Foundation s awareness and revenue goals. Serve as a Brand Champion, educating the regional market of our mission and advocacy efforts. Develop media relationships. Serve as the regional extension of the national marketing and communications team updating collateral and social media to include mission, sponsorship and event information. Develop a deep understanding of regional marketing communications strategy that maps up with both National Marketing and regional fundraising goals annually. Implement a broad range of assigned tactics to reach those goals. Ensure the smooth launch of all national, regional and digital marketing campaigns.
As directed by the Regional Director of Marketing and Communications: Publicize and promote programs and events; develop and execute media sponsorship and promotions that support events, raise mission awareness, and generate revenue.
Develop and maintain major media contacts in Southern California at newspaper, magazine, radio, TV, cable outlets, and select online outlets to get stories placed and position March of Dimes as the media resource on topics that pertain to our mission.
Assist in writing and producing materials that support priority programs and fundraising such as write press releases. Pitch media.
Collaborate with fundraisers to create value for our constituents.
Provide input into the development and implementation of short and long-term strategic communications plans for assigned areas incorporating fundraising activities, mission initiatives and volunteer development.
Support our celebrity outreach and media opportunities.
Support our social media platforms.
Consistently apply our brand across the coverage area. In that capacity, actively seek ways to reduce redundant or unnecessary marketing collateral, social/digital media etc...
Consistently use templates (which will increasingly be provided by national marketing). The goal is to reduce the numerous variations of our brand in the market to increase brand recognition.
Provide continuous education to fundraising staff and volunteers on the need to use the templates and not create more customized collateral particularly for major events. Ensure that we stay on brand.
Provide support for regional fundraising efforts by localizing templates and social media to include regional sponsors etc.
Bachelors Degree or equivalent in communications or related field.
Minimum of 3-5 years of direct related job experience
Proven experience with Greater Los Angeles and Southern California media markets.
Must have demonstrated skills in oral and written communications.
Demonstrated skills and experience in media relations, media promotions, social media, print and editorial services, communications planning, and implementation.
Fluency in Spanish (speaking and writing) preferred
Celebrity public relations experience a plus
Ability to relate with others while building credibility and rapport; give personal support and reassurance; put others at ease; build cooperative relationships.
Ability to affect change as appropriate; exhibit an innovative spirit.
Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and cross-geography; in-person and remotely.
