JOB DESCRIPTIONVHB has an immediate need for a Regional Transportation Director to join our Southeast Region and help expand our growing transportation practice across the Southeast. This position will be based in our Orlando, Tampa or Atlanta office. The successful candidate must be knowledgeable in transportation engineering and planning in both public and private sectors, with existing relationships and contacts within the southeast. In addition to aiding in the development of marketing strategies aimed at new market penetration and client retention, the Regional Transportation Director will also be responsible for coordinating and overseeing transportation projects in the southeast region. The position demands a proven ability to develop business, manage projects and mentor staff.
Responsibilities Lead, manage and develop a dynamic team of industry professionals Generate new business development opportunities and prepare winning proposals Set the strategic direction for the transportation practice in the southeast region Lead go/no go and partnering decisions on strategic pursuits Key client and contract management Serve as Principal-in-Charge or Senior Project Manager on select transportation projects Establish and track project milestones as well as quarterly business goals Involvement and input in key personnel decisions Manage external visibility/promotional efforts
Skills and Abilities Must have a demonstrated track record of generating new business development opportunities and preparing winning proposals Must be knowledgeable in transportation engineering and planning in both public and private sectors (including transit and rail), with existing relationships and contacts in the southeast region Must be a highly motivated self-starter Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills Strong presentation skills Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills, including ability to mentor staff and successfully manage and coordinate integrated services projects Must demonstrate superior ability in collaborative problem solving with stakeholders, clients, and teammates Ability to think strategically and solve problems
Requirements Successful candidate will have 15+ years of relevant experience in transportation engineering and/or planning Florida or Georgia P.E. license or AICP certification is required Candidate must have a Bachelor degree in civil engineering, transportation planning, or a related field; Master degree is preferred Experience in managing other staff members
