Facility: Otsego Memorial Hospital at Gaylord
Department: Physician Practice Management
Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, provides clinical assistance to providers including preparing patients for examination, treatment or minor surgical procedures. May perform procedures including starting intravenous lines, administering parenteral, blood products and other routes of medications, giving injections and immunizations. Schedules appointments and referrals, calls in prescriptions to pharmacies. Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required include: 1.Successful completion of an accredited educational program for Registered Nurse. Current state license for Registered Nurse is required. 2.BCLS certification required within 90 days of start date. 3.Ability to prepare patients for examination, treatment or minor surgical procedures and to assist in minor surgical procedures. 4.Ability to lead and guide others in delivering safe, timely and excellent patient care. 5.Ability to work independently and as a team member. 6.Knowledge of and competency in performing patient care procedures, observations, treatment and techniques utilized by facility, including ECG s, glucose testing, rapid strep screening, urinalysis, urine pregnancy testing and tympanograms. 7.High level interpersonal and communication skills necessary to receive and greet visitors, clients and staff members in a professional manner. 8.Ability to communicate effectively with patients, clinicians, peers and others. 9.Analytical skills needed to solve patient problems and interpret data. 10.Ability to provide care for patients in the following age groups: Infant - Birth to 1 year; Child 2 to 12 years; Adolescent 13 to 18 years; Adult 19 to 65 years; Geriatric over 65 years. 11.Ability to lift and maneuver equipment; ability to position and transfer patients using assistive devices and proper body mechanics.
