SUMMARY: The RN manages the direct patient care of an identified patient or group of patients. The RN assumes the primary responsibility and accountability for the delivery of all patient care. The RN may delegate the responsibility to perform nursing tasks to individuals on the healthcare team (LPN, PCT, NA) who are competent to perform these acts or tasks. When delegating to an unlicensed individual, the RN retains accountability for the nursing tasks. A RN is assigned charge responsibilities on a rotating basis, on each shift. Communications and collaboration are required within and outside the work group to provide patient care and resolve mutual issues. Communication and collaboration with external contacts is for the provision of on-going service and handling of routine transactions, frequently detailed information. Responsible for ensuring that satisfaction and service to internal and external contacts is maintained.
REQUIREMENTS: Graduate of an approved RN program. BSN preferred. Minimum of one (1) year of experience preferred. Previous specialty clinical experience preferred for specialty units. Current Maryland license as RN or licensure in a compact state that allows practice in Maryland. CPR required. National certification in applicable specialty preferred. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Must be able to pass all hospital competencies required for the position including but not limited to the following: ACLS required for the following departments: ICU, ED, PACU, IMC, Short Stay, Cardiac Cath, Endoscopy, Cardiac Rehab, Infusion Services Clinic, Pulmonary Function. PALS required for the following departments: Pediatric ER, Pediatrics and PACU.NRP required for the following departments: NICU and Labor and Delivery. EFM required for the following departments: Nursery, Maternal Child Unit and Labor and Delivery. New graduates and inexperienced transfers will have up to 18 months to obtain the appropriate certification. Experienced new hires must obtain the appropriate certification within the first year of employment.
