Our NICU is a level III 16 bed unit that provides care for for infant newborns starting at 26 weeks with state of the art equipment Our Scope of care includes pre-term infants less than 37 weeks, all respiratory disease and cardiac disease assessment and stabilization , and all newborn associated complications that occur after birth. r/o sepsis, hypoglycemia, perinatal distress. Staff Nurse clinicians and NNPs are proficient in management of the various lines , drains and airways associated with the high level of care that is provided, perform venipuncture/initiate intravenous therapy. Management of umbilical artery and PICC lines. We provide continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy, placement of nasal gastric tubes for gavage feedings. Our NICU nurses attend all cesarean section births and high risk deliveries. Our shifts are 7:00am-7:30 pm and 7:00pm-7:30am. The NICU team is comprised of 2 full time Neonatologists, Neonatal Nurse Practitioners, Neonatal Nurses, Respiratory Care Technicians and Unit secretary. The NICU staff works collaboratively with Labor and Delivery and Mother/Baby Units to provide high quality family-centered care.
The Registered Nurse practices within the Patient and Family Centered Care Model will assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for patients, coordinate ancillary staff and collaborate with interdisciplinary health care team.

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing; BSN strongly recommended.
1-3 years experience.
RN in State of Connecticut or Permit; Basic Life Support (BLS), NRP
May be exposure to infectious diseases. Will be exposed to physical, mental and emotional illness as well as end of life conditions and death. Moderate stress and risk of injury from patient care. Standing/walking for more than half of the day. Frequently bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, twisting and lifting. Must be able to assist pushing/pulling/lifting patients ranging from five (5) to three hundred (300) pounds.
