Job Summary

The Adult Intensive Care unit (ICU) at Mission Bay provides specialized care to a wide variety of critically ill patients.

Typically, the patients cared for in the Adult Intensive Care Unit are critically ill patients recovering from extensive surgeries and treatments which include patients with urological, gynecological, colorectal, head and neck, liver and pancreatic diseases. This unit cares for additional specialty patients which includes perinatal, adult congenital heart, and chemotherapy desensitization.

The ICU has a very dedicated team of nurses who are supported by an interdisciplinary team which includes Critical Care Nurse Practitioners and Attendings, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Therapy, and many more who are dedicated to providing excellent and safe patient care. When patients arrive to the ICU needing critical interventions, the ultimate goal is to stabilize the patient s condition and to promote wellness through the continuum of care. By supporting and empowering the patient and family, the ICU nursing staff ensures a positive progression in the patient s recovery. The entire medical team is always focused on promoting patient independence and self-care.

The UCSF Bakar Cancer Hospital at Mission Bay provides an advanced, sophisticated, efficient, flexible and family-centered healing environment for adults fighting cancer. The Adult Intensive Care Unit at Mission Bay will continue to provide excellent critical care services in this state of the art facility.

The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations is required.

Work Environment

* Knows where the Environment of Care Manual is kept in department; corrects or reports unsafe conditions to the appropriate departments.

Required Qualifications

* Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California

* Current American Heart Association CPR certification

* Current American Heart Association ACLS certification

* Minimum two years of Adult Medical Surgical ICU clinical RN experience (within the past two years)

* This position requires the flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations as needed

Preferred Qualifications

* BSN

* Recent RN clinical experience in an academic medical center

* Chemo experience

Licensure/Certification

* Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California

* Current American Heart Association CPR certification

* Current American Heart Association ACLS certification
