Under the direction of the Manger of Regulatory Affairs, the Regulatory Affairs Analyst will review, analyze, summarize and distribute to other Departments proposed, amended and newly enacted regulations that impact the enterprise. S/he will also work with regulators, key opinion leaders, and trade associations on regulatory matters.

The analyst will be required to work on special projects as directed by the Manager of Regulatory Affairs.


1. Track proposed, amended and final regulations.
2. Summarize and communicate regulatory requirements to the appropriate business areas and Regulatory Implementation Team.
3. Provide technical support to departments regarding current, proposed and newly promulgated regulations.
4. Participate in implementation activities related to newly enacted regulations
5. Work with Manager of Regulatory Affairs, Government Affairs staff, trade associations and regulatory agencies to set priorities.
6. Assist with regulatory research and reporting.
7. Produce regular project status reports for Manager.
8. Adhere to company and departmental policies and procedures, and Regulatory and Compliance standards.



EDUCATION:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience and education required. Health care, public policy, or business degree experience strongly preferred.

EXPERIENCE: (Years of experience)
Minimum of five year's work experience in a position requiring independent judgment and initiative. Previous experience in a managed care setting and/or regulatory environment strongly preferred.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS: (Include interpersonal skills)
The Regulatory Affairs Analyst will be involved with a variety of Tufts Health Plan staff in establishing and maintaining company initiatives related to regulatory obligations and negotiating changes to materials and/or policies and procedures that will be reviewed by regulators. This requires learning primarily the regulations related to HMOs, TPAs, POS, PPO and UR entities in the states in which we operate. The analyst will be asked to review and make preliminary judgments as to the regulatory implications of materials/procedures/programs/products being modified or developed. The incumbent will be expected to synthesize regulations and serve as a resource person for regulatory agencies and trade associations. The incumbent must be resourceful, detail-oriented, and able to assimilate and analyze a wide variety of information, often working under deadline pressure with a variety of levels of staff. Position requires simultaneous action at varying stages--initiation, follow through, and completion--on a number of different projects.

The Analyst will have frequent contact with regulators and staff from many departments in order to fulfill the requirements of the position. The Analyst must be able to work both independently and cooperatively as a team member.

Must also possess knowledge of Microsoft Word and other computer skills. Must be able to exercise initiative and good judgment. Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal, and writing skills are required.

Fast paced office environment handling multiple demands. Must be able to exercise appropriate judgment as necessary. Requires independent judgment of assigned work with high-level of decision making relative to tasks. Incumbent must utilize various sources of communication such as written, automated/computerized verbal, auditory, and oral communication to effectively receive and impart information. Requires mobility to access multicorporate sites and physical ability to process and file documents. Also requires physical ability to handle and manually \\"mark up\\" documents. Also entails frequent prolonged periods in telephone conversations and working on a personal computer.
