Job Description

A RESEARCH ASSOCIATE position in fundamental biochemistry & drug discovery is available in the Mootha Laboratory at Massachusetts General Hospital & Harvard Medical School. This is a rare opportunity to be part of a dynamic team consisting of experts in biochemistry, computational biology, & clinical medicine. We are seeking a highly motivated research assistant who will assist with the development & execution of high-throughput chemical screens. The technician will work closely with senior colleagues on mammalian cell-based assay development, chemical screening, & lead compound optimization. We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, & organized individual who can thrive in a fast-paced environment. Technical skill, attention to detail, & excellent communication skills are a must. Preference will be given to applicants willing to commit to a two year term. Ample opportunities for co-authorship on high impact papers. General duties:br- Work with senior staff to develop & optimize mammalian cell-based screening assays. br- Assist in the execution of high-throughout drug screens. br- Prepare, order, & maintain stocks of necessary reagents, solutions & supplies. br- Analyze experimental data & identify methodological problems. Adjust experimental protocols to ensure project completion in a timely fashion. br- Document, compile, & assist with interpreting experimental data. Report data to supervisor & team. br- Attend weekly team meetings to present results, plan projects & experiments, & to ensure that projects support current team goals in a dynamic environment. br- Consult with other senior scientists or scientific literature as needed. br- Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or related fieldbr- 1 to 2 years of laboratory experience, preferably in biochemistry or molecular/cellular biology utilizing mammalian cell model systems. br- Facility with computers & st&ard data analysis tools, as well as strong written & communications skillsbr- Excellent organization skillsbr- Ability to work in teamsThe Broad will not offer visa sponsorship for this position.
