JOB DUTIES:

The SRA I will manage the Rare Epilepsy and Brain Disease Tissue Bank (REBDTB) and participate in research activities. The SRA I will serve as the REBDTB's point of contact with external collaborators and participating institutions. This position is responsible for the acquisition and processing of brain, blood, and CSF samples from surgical resections performed at UCLA and participating domestic and international epilepsy centers.



Responsibilities also include compilation of clinical data and maintenance of databases.











JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Incumbent should be familiar with the research process and methodology. Should have familiarity with lab computers for data entry as well as knowledge relating to complicated spreadsheets and data analysis software and programs. Should carry out duties and responsibilities with limited supervision. Makes decisions and establishes work priorities on essentially procedure oriented operations. Should exchange routine information in an appropriate manner requiring good oral and written communication skills. Should know the informal policies, procedures and practices necessary to conduct the normal function of a specific section, unit, or work area. Individual should have a BS/BA, or equivalent experience, in biological sciences, chemistry, or another health sciences related major is required. Six months of post undergraduate experience in research projects, clinical trial coordination, or a significant independent research project, not related to normal course requirements.
