POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Department of Biology is currently seeking a motivated Research Associate/Senior Research Associate who wants to pursue a career in drug discovery. The successful candidate will work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment to design and execute molecular and cellular biology studies to further our understanding of the mechanisms of inflammatory diseases affecting the gastrointestinal system, lungs, eyes, and skin. The position is nested within the molecular disease biology group and requires the candidate to have experience with common molecular and cell biology methods as well as basic bioinformatics skills. Responsibilities include cell culture of cell lines as well as primary cells, flow cytometry, gene and protein expression analysis in order to generate biological insight into disease mechanisms. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with discovery program teams and senior scientists across functional areas and to present his or her work at project team meetings and to the senior research leadership.
