GENERAL SUMMARY: The RESEARCH ASSISTANT of the Behavioral Sleep Medicine Laboratory is recruiting a research assistant to manage studies investigating the relationship between sleep and circadian rhythms with body weight, health behaviors and blood pressure. The research assistant will have primary responsibility for assisting the Primary Investigator in the set up and management of all aspects of the projects day-to-day operations including (a) subject recruitment, screening for eligibility, and data collection, (b) maintaining project database and files and supplies, (c) assist with project reports and correspondence, (d) assist project team staff with execution of grant activities. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists in recruitment, obtaining informed consent and data collection including administration of questionnaires, set up and downloading of sleep tracking an blood pressure devices.
*

Screens, schedules and tracks subject participation making reminder phone calls and following up on non-participation.
*

Assists in tracking all payments to participants.
*

Maintains and orders supplies when needed.
*

Maintains forms and electronic data collection devices via the Redcap system.
*

Attends research staff meetings.
*

Assists in maintaining database for screened subjects and recruitment sites.
*

Assists in developing marketing materials and off site recruitment efforts.
*

Complies with ethical standards for research involving human subjects.
*

If interested, will have the opportunity to contribute to scientific manuscripts and abstracts.
*

Completes other activities as delegated by the PI and the project director



POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

*

Minimum of a Bachelor s degree and one year of previous human subjects research experience.
*

Effective written and verbal communication skills.
*

Willing to work flexible hours
*

Proficient with computer applications; experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint preferred; Experience with SPSS and REDCAP would be ideal
*

Must be able to work efficiently, follow-through with assignments independently, with excellent attention to detail as well as strong problem-solving, interpersonal, and analytic skills.
*

30-40 hours per week.



*WORKING CONDITIONS: Occasional early evening and weekend data collection days.

*LOCATION: Will be housed in the Sleep Disorders and Research Center located at 600 S Paulina Suite 6 South, Chicago, IL 60612.
