If this describes you, you may be the right candidate for the Research Coordinator RN position in the RUSH Alzheimer Disease Center - ResFac.
The Research Coordinator RN participates in the collection of data in the homes of elderly persons who are involved in longitudinal studies of Alzheimer's disease. Works directly with, and under the general direction of, the study coordinator; works closely with a team of research assistants and examining neurologists. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.
Performs structured clinical evaluations. This includes administering uniform neurological examinations which assess motor and sensory neuron function, physical examinations, muscle strength testing, pulmonary function testing, and other performance tests in participant's home.
Enters data directly on to computerized forms; editing of forms includes checking data for completeness and accuracy.
Assists with the recruitment and scheduling of subjects. This involves explaining the goals of the study, obtaining informed consent and arranging for the evaluation and additional studies as determined by the research protocol.
Obtains and stores biological specimens including drawing blood, collecting urine, and additional specimens as required by research protocol.
Position Qualifications Include:
Registered Nurse licensed by the State of Illinois with a B.S.N. degree from an accredited school of nursing.
CPR Certification required.
Two years recent experience in caring for geriatric patients to include one year experience with AD patients and their families preferred.
A genuine interest in working with older adults.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively with a team of neurologists and research assistants is essential.
Detail oriented in task completion.
Phlebotomy skills necessary.
Extensive local and out of state travel required.
