Job Description
The Health Care Financing and Payment group within RTI International has an opening for a Research Economist to serve as task and project leader for new and ongoing research studies relating to health economics and other health services research. Office locations include Waltham, MA (Boston); Research Triangle Park, North Carolina; Washington, DC; Chicago, IL; and other regional offices.

Responsibilities
Identifying and designing analyses of policy and technical issues
Analyzing and interpreting data
Obtaining research funding for new grants and contract
Authoring technical reports and articles for submission to policy and technical journals
Communicating orally and in writing technical and policy material to technical and non-
technical (policy) audiences
Designing and executing qualitative and quantitative approaches to studying health
economics and policy
Motivating, mentoring, and supervising support and junior research staff

Qualifications
PhD or 2011/2012 PhD candidate in economics, health services research or policy, or related field with a minimum of one year of relevant experience
Candidates with strong skills in quantitative analysis, program evaluation, policy analysis,
proposal and report writing, and/or project management are encouraged to apply
The position requires excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal
skills, good attention to detail, and ability to work successfully in multidisciplinary teams
Interest and background in policy analysis of government health care programs such as
Medicare and Medicaid is particularly desirable

To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
