Job Description

The Education and Workforce Development Group at RTI International has an opening for the position of Research Education Analyst. The successful candidate will serve as Task Leader for project activities in policy analysis and research, data collection, data analysis, and reporting for federal, state and local elementary/secondary/postsecondary education research and education.



This position will be based in Portland, Oregon or Washington, DC.

Responsibilities:

* Serve as project director or task lead for research, evaluation, and technical assistance projects in career and technical education, adult education, and correctional education.

* Collect data and perform analyses; write descriptive and analytic reports; develop literature reviews, white papers, and briefing papers; and lead other project activities.

* Perform descriptive and inferential statistical and cost-effectiveness analyses.

* Interact with external clients, including holding project review meetings and in-person discussions, and network with internal groups, and in particular, staffers working in the international education and workforce development space.

* Clearly articulate scientific findings to professional audiences and/or government officials at venues such as national conferences or client locations.

* Facilitate meetings with clients and working group members.

* Lead and contribute to the development of proposals and business development activities.

* Mentor junior staff.

* Meet scientific stature goals by submitting papers to peer-reviewed journals, participate in professional meetings and associations, and develop tools and methods to advance RTI s capabilities.

* Other responsibilities as assigned.



Qualifications

* Ph.D., with at least 1 year of related experience (or Master s degree with at least 6 years related experience or a Bachelor's degree with at least 10 years' related experience).

* Strong project management experience, including managing a large education project.

* Coursework in statistics or related area.

* Demonstrated proficiency in analyzing large data sets.

* Careful attention to detail with excellent organization and time management skills.

* Ability to synthesize data and communicate findings effectively.

* Ability to manage competing tasks.

* Ability to work independently and with teams, and to establish and maintain good working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, and clients.

* Ability to travel within the U.S.

* To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and should not require now, or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status.

Preferred Qualifications

* Familiarity with state and federal education reporting requirements in identified fields.
