The Manager Capital Markets Research will create and contribute to best-in-class research that differentiates JLL by building and maintaining a competitive advantage in the marketplace through sector expertise, thought leadership and the innovative use of technology, analyses and insights. The position will have primary responsibility for working with national and local investment sales and financing professionals to track and analyze real estate trends and industry dynamics, as well as to publish insights that create a strong brand identity which has strategic implications for our business and our clients. As part of JLL s national capital markets research team, the Manager will be responsible for leading multifamily research priorities and working in close partnership with the national capital markets analyst team on broader platform priorities. Our strong preference is that this position is based in our Chicago office, however we are open to candidates in San Francisco, CA or New York City, NY.
Execution of research priorities, partnering with local capital markets teams (investment sales, debt) across the platform, data / technology teams and broader research team to drive content and analytics.
Data Acquisition, Management and Analysis: Manage and constantly evolve data acquisition strategy with a focus on macroeconomic, leasing, development, investment sale and financing indicators leveraging both internal and external data acquisition strategies.
Multifamily Content Development and Profile / Brand-Building: Create, adapt and administer an annual research plan for the multifamily sector that aligns with national business objectives and the overall Americas research plan. Help to continually develop, enhance and leverage detailed knowledge, statistical modeling and expertise of national economic drivers, sale / financing dynamics and the multifamily property market. Expand the multifamily research platform via analyses into more sophisticated, timely thought leadership. Develop and author social media content, blog postings, white papers, infographics and other narratives and visuals on trends, issues affecting the multifamily market.
Client Engagement: Deliver research solutions for large-scale, national or international client and prospect requests, focusing on strategic content and impact. Present compelling trends and analysis to internal as well as external clients.
Competitive Intelligence for Business Strategy Support: Align research effectively with leadership and provide them with data, content and analysis to support strategic growth decisions and business development initiatives.
Contribute to Global Research: Provide inputs to and participate in global research initiatives, including reports, specialized research projects and forums.
Team Management: Manage U.S. multifamily research staff including hiring, goal setting, performance management, and training.
America s Connections: Collaborate with the JLL market research team across the Americas to both grow and leverage their local output and ensure that data and content is both included effectively into consistent thought leadership messages and translated into market-positioning deliverables for clients and prospects. This includes cross-sector connections within the U.S. Capital Markets and larger Americas Research teams.
Content Marketing: Partner with the Investor Marketing and PR teams to ensure the proactive delivery of information, insights and products that also demonstrate our market knowledge related to sector and economic activity / conditions, trends and forecasts, among others. Collaborate effectively with marketing and PR teams.
A Bachelor s degree or graduate-level degree in business, economics or related field is required.
Five or more years of experience in real estate market research and strategy. Experience in the multifamily sector is a plus, as well as real estate analysis, finance and / or acquisition experience is necessary.
U.S. macro or local real estate market expertise and trend knowledge with an understanding of housing trends, economic and demographic patterns or cycles.
Project management or supervisory experience required, leading projects, teams, programs and / or workload.
High-level analytical skills and problem solving ability with an aptitude for innovation.
Ability to express thoughts and articulate ideas clearly, concisely and effectively in both written and oral forms.
Experienced presentation skills with the ability to credibly establish profile in the marketplace with internal sales professionals, clients and the media.
Ability to effectively and professionally meet client expectations and positively represent the firm.
Ability to multi-task, succeed under pressure and effectively manage time and workload.
Proactive and strategic thinking and ability to lead research initiatives in alignment with business objectives.
