Facility: Franciscan Hospital for Children at Brighton
Department: (CBAT) Community Based Acute Treatment Program
SUMMARY Provides direct care to preschool and latency aged children and adolescents with a wide variety of behavioral and psychiatric conditions. Provides a safe and therapeutic environment for these residents in which they will work on individual goals and stabilize their behaviors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Interacts with residents in a therapeutic manner that facilitates adaptive coping and life skills through implementation of treatment plan goals and objectives. Demonstrates clinical judgment in working with emotionally disturbed children and adolescents. Demonstrates competence in behavior management and diffusing behavioral situations.
Successfully completes Hospital and department specific orientation and ongoing mandatory education requirements.
Applies Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) techniques to children and adolescents with behavioral and psychiatric conditions to avoid hands-on encounters whenever possible. As a last resort restrains, or assists in restraining, residents weighing up to 350 pounds when intervention is necessary to ensure safety.
Observes, documents, and reports critical information regarding residents to Supervisor in an accurate and timely manner.
Assists residents with activities of daily living; participates in therapeutic group activities.
Provides continuity of coverage in emergency situations.
Other duties may be assigned as necessary to the operation of the department.
Ability to work a flexible schedule to include rotating days, evenings, nights and weekends. Occasional overtime hours may be necessary based upon the business needs.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
Two years of college education or equivalent work experience is required. A Bachelor s Degree in Human/Social Services is preferred. Previous work experience and/or academic course work in regard to children and adolescents with behavioral and psychiatric conditions preferred. Part Time Day/Night rotation including weekend rotation Bachelors Degree preferred Pediatric experience preferred
