JOB DESCRIPTIONDescription/Job Summary
THIS POSITION IS LOCATED IN THE LEHIGH VALLEY AREA, APPROXIMATELY 60 MILES NORTH OF PHILADELPHIA, PA.
The On Our Way program helps adolescents and young adults to develop skills necessary to achieve success and satisfaction in the community. Each individual has unique strengths, needs and preferences that must be considered and supported in all interactions.
We seek to hire full-time, part-time and on-call (as needed) staff. Staff will promote the individual's ability to live happily, healthily and safely in the community. Provides personal care, as needed, to maintain their health and appropriate public appearance.
This may include bathing, diapering, tooth brushing and other personal care. Implements supportive interventions, especially in times of crisis, such as, episodes of self-injurious behavior and aggression.
Minimum education required for this position is HS/GED, however, an applicant with a Bachelor's degree in social work, education, sociology or psychology or another related field, is preferred. Prior experience in the human service, education or rehabilitation
field is desired.
Must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid Driver's License, to receive consideration.
Must possess a strong work ethic, good interpersonal skills and have good oral and written communication skills. Should be reliable, consistent, flexible and willing to learn creative strategies to support adolescents and young adults with disabilities. Maturity
and sound judgment to provide appropriate guidance and intervention during crisis situations, required.
