The Registered Respiratory Therapist, working under the direction of the RT leadership, is responsible for implementing respiratory care based on expanded knowledge and experience. The RT is responsible for delivering patient care in complex, multiple problem patient care situations. Majority of time is in critical care with significant independent decision-making and self-direction. In addition, to patient care delivery, the RT is responsible for patient, family/support system education, coordination of activities, staff development, and professional and self-developmental activities. The RT is responsible for providing patient care with an understanding and awareness of age specific needs. The RT addresses the biological, emotional, developmental, psychosocial, and patient/family education needs when providing care to the patient. The therapist also participates in the education of new employees and others. Good customer relation, assessment, and communication skills are a must or this job.

Required Minimum Education:
Graduate of AMA approved therapist training program; Qualifying for the NBRC Registry Exam and credential of RRT (BS degree preferred)

Required Minimum Experience:
Must possess a minimum of one-year experience, preferably experience in both neonatal and adult critical care areas. BCLS required. ACLS/NRP preferred. Registered (RRT) by the NBRC is required. Active certification/licensure pursuant to the Georgia Respiratory Care Practice Act is required.

Required Skills:
Candidate should possess good clinical and communication skills and have the ability to establish and maintain working relations with physicians and other health care personnel.
