Ramsey Golf & Country Club is a private, member owned club located in Ramsey, NJ. While the club is private the F&B departments are open to the public. We are currently seeking and energetic, professional, career and quality driven individual for the role of Restaurant Manager. Definition: Responsible for all phases of Restaurant operations, cost control, checking and cashiering, personnel and food production in coordination with the Executive Chef. Supervision: The Restaurant Manager reports directly to the GM & COO of the Country Club and works closely with he/she to profitably operate the department in a professional manner. The Restaurant Manager will also assist in other areas of operations as required and/or needed. The Restaurant Manager must be able to work independently and be a self-starting problem solver. As required, he/she will seek information and refer to unique problems/opportunities to the GM & COO for clarification or interpretation of policy and/or action. The Restaurant Manager accepts Departmental related operating recommendations and suggestions from the Membership and informs the GM & COO about steps of action to be taken should such member suggestions can/would be implemented. General Duties: Directly responsible to the GM & COO for the proper supervision and function of all Food & Beverage employees, facilities, operation, sales, costs and departmental profit. Responsible for all phases of restaurant opening and closing procedures. Must cover certain opening and closing shifts as needed and required. Analyze Restaurant operations from the standpoint of operating costs, increasing sales, efficiency, merchandising principles, work simplification and sanitation; making specific corrections and recommendations necessary for optimum performance; maintain payroll control. Develop and conduct training sessions, or workshops, for Restaurant personnel. Follow-up programs and policies to ensure compliance with prescribed methods and standards. Report directly to the GM & COO for assignments and instructions, coordinating his functions and activities with other department heads. Coordinate with the Executive Chef all menu making, pricing, food presentation, sanitation, food promotion and employee scheduling; ensure quality preparation and service at all times. Coordinate with purchasing agent to ensure that all purchases conform to Food & Beverage Department specifications and quality. Approve and sign all Food and Beverage Department purchase orders. In conjunction with the Executive Chef maintain an up-to-date standard recipe file showing a complete cost breakdown and preparation for all items on the menus, as well as specialty items that would be considered for future use. Develop or approve job descriptions for all positions in the Food & Beverage Department in order to orient new employees properly. Engage and release restaurant staff. This function must be properly coordinated through H/R and with the GM & COO. Make daily inspections of Food & Beverage areas, including kitchen, storeroom, and other areas under control. Develop new ideas in conjunction with department heads that will increase sales, reduce costs or increase the productivity of the Food & Beverage operation. Send monthly reports to the GM & COO of Club that show the difference in sales and cost figures for the current month and year vs. the previous month and year. This report must also analyze the profit and loss statement as well as describe what is being done to increase sales and decrease costs. Minimum Qualifications: University degree preferred and/or minimum of 5 years experience in similar position. Ability to read, comprehend, carry out instruction. Computer literate, and familiar with POS systems and Windows 98 programs. Necessary Knowledge, Ability and Skill: Ability to deliver a high quality standard of service, consistently with emphasis on continued improvement. Understanding of private club operations, restaurant and F&B operations, organizational and sales techniques. Ability to train, motivate and supervise. Strong oral, and written communication skills. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear and move about freely in a multi-floor building. The employee is frequently required to visually observe the condition of his/her surroundings. Routinely required to bend, stoop, stand, walk, carry and lift objects weighing 50 pounds or less.
