Sodexo is seeking an experienced Restaurant Manager (Retail Food Manger 3) to oversee the 1899 Bar and Grill on the Northern Arizona University campus in Flagstaff, AZ. The Restaurant Manager will be charged with leading our team -of Front and Back of the House staff -at the 1899 Bar & Grill, the full service on campus restaurant that fuses a turn-of-the-century American bistro with a contemporary steakhouse flair, featuring many foods native to the Southwest and a complete wine list and several regional beers on tap. The 1899 is open for lunch and dinner all year round (closed on some holidays) for on and off campus guests. Sales the past 2 years have exceeded $1,000,000 and the restaurant has accumulated several prestigious awards since opening - one of the top Fine dining establishments in the city. While the overall volume at the 1899 is a relatively small percentage of the total campus sales, the prestige and pride that the campus has in the 1899 cannot be overstated. The 1899 has become a critical part of our overall offer on campus. We work very closely with our Sodexo colleagues who operate the High Country Conference Center, directly adjacent and across the street from the 1899. Our partners at NAU expect a seamless, cooperative effort from both the Sodexo Campus staff and the Conference Center staff. The successful candidate will be comfortable moving from a casual lunch menu/atmosphere to a more formal dinner menu/atmosphere. We have a full service liquor license so experience operating a full service bar is a plus. Additional competencies for the successful candidate include: * Previous 3 5 years restaurant management experience overseeing Front and Back of the House. * Solid cost control experience labor/food costs, scheduling, use of and monitoring of POS systems and cash handling procedures. * Proven track record of providing stellar customer service and a welcoming dining experience and training of staff to provide the same. * Catering experience for special functions including weddings, receptions, company functions. * Acumen for ordering and inventory for food and alcohol systems / vendors. * Exemplary work ethic, great communication skills, creativity and the spirit to lead by example are a big part of the expectations to be a part of the successful team at NAU. * Flexibility with work schedule - current hours include Wed - Sunday from 1pm - 11pm. Position Summary Maintains food quality and customer service in a cash handling retail food operation that includes branded concepts, in-house formats and signature designs. May assume General Manager's (GM) responsibilities and authority in his/her absence. Assists in maintenance of cash control and payroll records. Assists in supporting the financial/Human Resources (HR) functions. Maintains customer satisfaction and good public relations. Qualifications & Requirements Basic Education Requirement - High School Diploma or GED Basic Management Experience - 2 years Basic Functional Experience - 2 years of work experience in concessions, retail sales, or store operations.
