The Retirement Plans Analyst assists the Retirement Plans Manager with matters pertaining to the design, compliance and administration of the Staff Retirement Plans and two nonqualified plans.


* Primary contact for routine participant inquiries regarding the Staff Retirement Plans including plan features, benefits and procedures; when appropriate, escalate inquiries to Retirement Plans Manager or Director of Retirement Plans.

* Present general Staff Retirement Plans and 401(k) Plan information at new hire orientation;

* Generate and review benefit statements that are provided to participants upon separation from service or upon request;

* Provide benefit estimates, upon request, for employees considering retirement;

* Speak with exiting and retiring employees, explain timing and forms of benefit payment and benefit election procedures;

* Generate and review benefit amounts and distribution election forms and process benefit payments;

* Reconcile monthly Northern Trust reports;

* Reconcile Staff Plan payments and nonqualified Supplemental Plan payments monthly;

* Conduct PeopleSoft review of plan participation and beneficiary designation data; answer questions regarding beneficiary designations;

* Work with Sidley s Insurance Department to annually reconcile participant disability periods from MetLife, Unum and PeopleSoft reports;

* Annually generate and review service for rehired participants and temporary employees who become participants;

* Generate and review annual statements for active partner participants in the Staff Plans;

* Assist with other staff retirement plans matters, such as qualified domestic relations orders, death benefit payments, IRS determination letter applications, and Form 5500 filings;

* Generate benefit amounts for a nonqualified plan and journalize the payments;

* Correspond with vendors

* Assist with plan communications and compliance notices;

* Assist with ad-hoc reports and analysis;

* Help to develop internal control and data reconciliation procedures for Department;

* Update procedures in Retirement Plans Department Procedure Manual; and

* Work on special projects as assigned

* Bachelor s degree

* A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Retirement Plans administration

* Familiarity with the principles of retirement systems administration/management and processes, including compliance requirements under the Internal Revenue Code and ERISA, and relevant legislation

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Outlook and Excel


* Experience working with PeopleSoft or other databases

* Qualified Pension Administrator (QPA) credential from ASPPA or similar qualified retirement plan certification/training

* An understanding of basic accounting terminology
