Department Description

The Rheumatology Clinic is a regional center for rheumatic diseases and arthritis.

Our physicians provide consultation and continuing care for patients with rheumatoid diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus.

Specialized imaging studies and immunologic testing are available, as is a range of standard and investigational treatments.

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN), under the supervision of the Administrative Nurse/Practice Manager, guided by the policies and procedures of the Ambulatory Services and the Ambulatory Services Quality Nursing Division, and in collaboration with the physician staff, has the clinical responsibility for developing and maintaining a high standard of patient care for patients evaluated and followed within the UCSF Rheumatology and Nephrology Division. S/he is responsible for maintaining a safe environment for patients and staff, and for daily operations.

The RN utilizes the nursing process for patient care assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic clinical care. All components of nursing care will be individualized to meet the patient s physiological and psychosocial developmental level and needs. S/he consistently projects a professional and courteous demeanor. S/he will assist with management of patient care administered by the UCSF Rheumatology and Nephrology physicians and other members of the clinical and nursing team. S/he will consistently project a professional and courteous demeanor and shall comply with the Medical Center House and Telephone Standards.

The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations is required.

Required Qualifications

* Minimum two years RN experience

* Training and experience with electronic health record

* Experience in a rheumatology and nephrology practice or in an outpatient medical sub- specialty settings familiar with biologic medications

* Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California

* Active American Heart Association CPR certification

* High level of interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

* The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations is required

Preferred Qualifications

* One to two years experience working with EPIC/APEX platform

* Outpatient clinical care experience

* Bi-lingual capability in Cantonese or Spanish


* Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California

* Active American Heart Association CPR certification
