ROBOTICS AND AUTONOMOUS DRIVING R&D SCIENTIST



Primary Responsibilities

Located at Grace Lake Corporate Center (GLCC) in Van Buren Twp., Michigan, near Ann Arbor, MI, this role will be responsible for developing functional blocks for perception, interpretation and planning. The Robotics and Autonomous R&D Scientist will also be responsible for multidisciplinary team interaction, experimenting with localization, mapping and interpretation algorithms. Keep design documentation up to date and work on establishing a workflow process for robotics and autonomous driving development

Typical Duties



* Develop specific functional blocks for perception, interpretation, planning and control system stages

* Generate technical documents and reports for internal distribution

* Generate intellectual property

* Experiment with localization, mapping (SLAM), path planning and interpretation algorithms.

* Feel comfortable to work in a multicultural environment

* Interact with a multidisciplinary team and work together for common goals

* Evaluate navigation / SLAM third party solutions

* Generate test plans to be executed by a testing team



Requirements

Required: PhD or MSc in computer vision or related field in an electronics, technology or automotive environment or at least five (5) years of demonstrable R&D experience(including publications).



* Develop specific functional blocks for perception, interpretation, planning and control system stages

* Generate technical documents and reports for internal distribution

* Generate intellectual property

* Experiment with localization, mapping (SLAM), path planning and interpretation algorithms.

* Feel comfortable to work in a multicultural environment

* Interact with a multidisciplinary team and work together for common goals

* Evaluate navigation / SLAM third party solutions

* Generate test plans to be executed by a testing team



Degree Required: PhD or MSc in Intelligent Systems, Robotics, Automated Navigation Systems, or related field.



Desired Competencies/Experience

* PhD or MSc in intelligent systems, robotics , automated navigation systems or related.

* Demonstrated experience solving localization, planning and navigation problems (papers or publications).

* Experience on going from abstract mathematical / algorithmic models to practical implementations

* Strong background on localization, mapping, SLAM mobile and distributed robotics.

* Strong background in general robotics architecture (perception, interpretation, planning and control).

* Good programming skills in C/C++

* Good programming skills in Python

* Experience developing with ROS

* Expertise in Matlab, R and/or Mathematica, dSpace, RTMaps or equivalent, Simulink

* Good background in control algorithms (PID, state models)

* Programming experience in Linux and Window environments

* Good knowledge on sensor technology for autonomous vehicles

* Exposition to signal conditioning



Special Requirements
