The Scrum Master is a DevOps Team member for USCIS JETS supporting a number of the following applications: Apache/MyFaces 1.1.4/JSF/Hibernate 3.0 ORM Framework, SOAP, SQL, Jquery, EMC Documentum, WebLogic, Generis DocSecure, Jboss, Cvision, COBOL, IDMS/ADSO, Java, CSS, JSPs, Case360, Crystal Reports, VB6, VB.NET, ASP.NET, C#, Siebel Base (C++), Siebel, PL/SQL, XML, CSS, DHTML, Nuance OCR and Dreamware NT Svc 5.1. Oversees a DevOps Teams responsible for all aspects of the systems development life cycle to include application development, tier 2/3 service desk support, and systems administration of large-scale enterprise applications. Acts as a technical team lead managing resources to remove or escalate issues affecting team performance and support the team's pursuit of its sprint goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Facilitating discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution
Organizes and facilitates project-planning, meetings, reviews, retrospectives, sprint and release management and other Scrum-related activities.
Grooming and maintaining the product backlog.
Track and communicate team velocity and sprint and release progress and ensure the development teams are practicing the core agile principles of collaboration, prioritization, team accountability, and visibility.
Prioritizes team efforts to assist with backlog maintenance.
Ability to troubleshoot and analyze issues, suggest workarounds, evaluate project obstacles and adapt processes accordingly
Removing impediments or guiding the team to remove impediments by finding the right personnel to remove the impediment.
Troubleshoots production problems related to software applications. Researches, tests, builds, and coordinates the conversion and/or integration of new products based on client requirements.
Designs and develops new software products or major enhancements to existing software. Evaluates effectiveness.
Addresses problems of systems integration, compatibility, and multiple platforms.
Consults with project teams and end users to identify application requirements.
Performs feasibility analysis on potential future projects to management.
Assists in the evaluation and recommendation of application software packages, application integration and testing tools.
Resolves problems with software and responds to suggestions for improvements and enhancements.
Instructs, assigns, directs, and checks the work of others on the development team.
Must be a US Citizen
Ability to obtain DHS EOD suitability or Current DHS EOD preferred.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of ten (10) Years of software development experience.
Possess a Masters Degree in IT related field
At least two (2) years experience leading Agile Teams utilizing iterative and incremental engineering approaches and Agile Methodologies.
Experience with DHS development processes preferred.
Demonstrated experience with a number of the following applications: Apache/MyFaces 1.1.4/JSF/Hibernate 3.0 ORM Framework, SOAP, SQL, Jquery, EMC Documentum, WebLogic, Generis DocSecure, Jboss, Cvision, COBOL, IDMS/ADSO, Java, CSS, JSPs, Case360, Crystal Reports, VB6, VB.NET, ASP.NET, C#, Siebel Base (C++), Siebel, PL/SQL, XML, CSS, DHTML, Nuance OCR and Dreamware NT Svc 5.1.
Previous experience as a team lead.
Knowledge of other Agile approaches: XP, Kanban, Lean Software Development, Feature Driven Development, etc.
General software development experience using Agile Development tools such as JIRA, Jenkins, Automated Test and etc.
Preferred: Scrum Alliance Certified Scrum Master (CSM), ICAgile Certified Professional (ICP), or Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) Certification.
