JOB DESCRIPTIONAPPLY General Lead is working with a business consulting and technology solutions company on a SQLDatabase Administrator position located in Chicago, Illinois.
Seeking an experienced SQLDatabase Administrator to provide production support of SQLServerdatabases. Candidate must have extensive experience administrating SQLServer 2008 R2 and 2012 databases. This position offers an excellent opportunity for technical and professional growth, as our client is expanding the scale of our SQLServer capabilities.
Leads initiatives within the DBA team, including project management, technical designs and discussions, training, and communication to other teams. Implementation and support of SQLServer 2008 R2 / 2012 / 2014 database systems, including Reporting Services (SSRS), Analysis Services (SSAS) and Integration Services (SSIS), on physical/virtual Windows 2008 R2 / 2012 R2 servers. Implementation, support, and maintenance of PowerShell scripts for various database-related purposes. Implementation, support, and maintenance of SSIS (Integration Services) packages for various database-related purposes. Proactively monitor health of various databaseservers and take appropriate preventative actions. Develop tools and reports to effectively monitor server health as appropriate. Perform problem resolution and root cause analysis along with recommending and implementing preventive techniques. Manage database storage, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and change/configuration maintenance. Manage security at the user, database, and server levels. Work closely with practice personnel to design and implement SQLServerdatabases, associated support tools, and processes in support of complex business application development and deployment. Database types supported include: third-party application databases, client-developed applications, and client-developed "project" databases. Review and approve data model designs developed by application developers. Provides technical consulting (non-client-facing) in identifying, implementing and supporting new SQLServerdatabase function. Ensure standardization of systems implementation, support techniques, and adherence to formal processes, change control, best practices, and total quality practices in all activities. Evaluate new databasetechnologies and facilitate adoption decisions. Coach and mentor the development, implementation and support team members on best practices for databasetechnologies.
5 years of experience in managing SQLServer installations (2008 R2 / 2012) in various settings such as clustered, non-clustered, using SAN, local disk, virtualization, etc. Expertise in the following areas: Managing large number of SQLDatabases on multiple servers; large-scale databases; large number of users; Integration Services; performance tuning, analysis, problem research/definition/resolution. Experience leading DBA related projects. 3 years of experience in SQLServer Integration Services -- must include 1+ years in SSIS 2012. 3 years of experience in data modeling and data architecture. A plus would be experience with otherdatabase engines PostGRES, MySQL. Bachelor's degree or equivalent required - preferably specializing in computer science, management information systems, or some other analytical or computer-related discipline. Expertise supporting one or more of the following: IIS, COM, Analysis Services, Reporting Services, or Windows Clustering. Experience in a DevOps style management environment. Experience with Big Data/NoSQLtechnologies. Experience with SQL Sentry products. MCITP (Database Administrator) certification.
