The Sales Coordinator (SC) is responsible for managing the Customer Acquisition/Reacquisition quoting, and acquiring workflow process. In support of the Sales Rep and Sales Support Consultant, the incumbent will complete the initial request for proposal plan design, apply appropriate underwriting risk rules, and ensure accuracy of the calculated rates and occupational coding. Accurate manual rate is a critical component in ensuring Unum's profit margins. The incumbent is expected to demonstrate expertise in all aspects of rating, proposal generation and the process steps in acquiring new business. Principal Duties and ResponsibilitiesManage the quote process, developing a quote for RFP from initial plan design and manual rate through proposal. Identify standard, non-standard and Field Authority business, and process as appropriate - macro risk rules, occupational coding/classing, census data entry, calculating manual rates, quote rate, proposals etc. within established cycle times.Receive RFP and interpret to design initial benefit plan.Generate proposal and/or cost benefit summary and offers.Partner with the Sales Rep/Sales Support Consultant to help manage broker relationships. Respond to broker inquiries as appropriate.Provide professional back up when Sales Rep/Sales Support Consultant is out of the office.Identify and obtain necessary information to complete initial plan designs and/or proposals.Document and communicate case specific changes and information to Sales Rep/Sales Support Consultant.Ensure accuracy of final manual rate decisions for all field authority cases, applying appropriate underwriting risk rules communicating to Sales Rep/Sales Support Consultant any changes in final manual rate.Complete accurate and timely submission & smooth implementation of sold cases, in support of the acquisition process. Verify final sold plan and that the case is within underwriting guidelines, consulting with Home Office extended team on cases outside of Field Authority Pricing or guidelines.Coding of case tracking system.Coordinate broker licensing with Broker Compensation Services.Ensure effective working relationships, clearly understand and appreciate the significance of the broker and internal Unum partner relationships, including underwriting and service.Ensure that there is effective support to the field office by acting as a full team member and providing critical support as needed to all phases of the sales & renewal process, including administrative support as appropriate. Provide support to peer group for high volume transaction periods and during absences.Draft and type correspondence (letters, memos) to brokers and/or policyholders, including general mailers.Support information gathering needs through technology tools such as mainframe systems and data bases.Establish initial sales file folder and perform required ongoing filing.QualificationsAssociate/Bachelor's Degree (preferred)Sales Support experience preferredStrong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to prioritize, organize, complete multiple tasks and accurately handle a high volume of workStrong customer service orientationWorks well in an energized team environmentHighly motivated and proactive, with the ability to work well independentlyGood judgment and problem solving skillsProficient in MS Word and Excel ApplicationsAbility to travel as needed.Meets the standards for this position, as defined in the Talent Management Framework.Unum offers world-class training and development, generous compensation and benefits packages,
