Department Sales Job Description The Westin Lombard Yorktown Center Hotel is currently looking for an enthusiastic, aggressive individual who is a team player with a positive attitude to join our sales team who would be responsible for our corporate group market. As part of the Sales team, you would strive to meet the hotel's revenue goals in rooms and food and beverage. Qualified individuals must have a High School Degree or GED and some college would be preferred. A minimum of 1 -2 years of hotel sales experience is required preferably with knowledge of the corporate market. Individual must have strong solicitation skills via phone and cold calling and must be able to provide excellent customer service as well as be strong in relationship building. Travel is required 1 -4 times per year. Requirements SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities: Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace. Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process. Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written. Knowledge of all departments of hotel. Most tasks are performed in a team environment with the employee acting as a team leader. There is minimal direct supervision. Ability to communicate customer needs and resolve complaints. Sales ability and skill in both oral and written form. Ability to identify and develop accounts with individual guest room needs. Ability to establish and master goals. Must possess basic computational ability. Must possess computer skills, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel and Delphi. Working knowledge of federal, state and local laws governing equal employment opportunity and civil rights, occupational safety and health, wage and hour issues, and labor relations, including, but not limited to the following statutes and their comparable state and local laws (where applicable): Title VII, ADEA, Equal Pay Act, Pregnancy Discrimination Act, FLSA, ADA, OSHA, FMLA, and NLRA.
