RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The following duties are the primary responsibilities of the Reliability Engineer. Other duties may be assigned.



Safety, Health, And Environment:

* Promotes a strong belief that all jobs can be performed safely and that no job is worth doing that would risk the health, safety, or welfare of the plant employees or community

* Contributes to a safe work environment by modeling safe behaviors and practicing the site Stop Work Triggers

* Maintains strict adherence to plant safety policies and procedures

* Actively participates in the site Behavior-Based Site Safety program

* Initiates incident investigations, investigates incidents or near misses, identifies root cause, reports the findings, and implements actions to close the gaps

* Assist investigation teams, leads preliminary incident investigations, and selects appropriate corrective actions to improve safety and environmental performance in the area

BUSINESS & PRODUCTION SUPPORT:

* Guides efforts to ensure reliability and maintainability of equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, controls, and safety/security systems

* Professionally and systematically defines, designs, develops, monitors and refines the preventive/predictive maintenance process in pursuit of optimization

* Proper utilization, operation and care of equipment

* Comprehensive lubrication program (requirements, frequencies, and methods of application)

* Inspections, adjustments, replacements, overhauls for selected equipment

* Vibration, infrared and other predictive analyses and interpretation of results

* Coordinates with Maintenance, Shift Supervisors, and/or Utility Operator/Gate Keeper to ensure that Preventative Maintenance services and inspections are performed when due and that resultant corrective work returns the equipment to a state of readiness.

* Reduces and improves maintenance work processes wherever feasible; assuring efficient and reliable operation of plant processes and equipment while protecting and prolonging the economic life of plant assets at optimal cost

* Develops engineering solutions to repetitive failures, pre-mature failures and other maintenance/operation problems

* Identifies and corrects chronic, repetitive, and costly equipment problems through Root Cause Analysis

* Analysis of equipment history to assure effectiveness of all maintenance efforts in combination

* Shortened life-cycle of equipment

* Provides technical advice to maintenance and operations

* Implements methods to reduce the need for maintenance and ultimately eliminate the occurrence of failures

* Applies value analysis to repair/replace, repair/redesign, and make/buy decisions

* Works with Engineering to ensure the maintainability of new and modified installations

* Participates in the final checkout of new installations

* Ensures that spare parts list, equipment manuals, and prints are provided for all new installations in compliance with site wide MI Program and that they are consistent with established standards

* Coordinates and facilitates technical training which supports reliability efforts

* Remains abreast of and applies advancing maintenance technology as applicable

* Justifies maintenance reliability function on a profit improvement basis by generating quarterly and year-end reports

* Maintains reliability project records and manages projects to ensure they are completed on time and at or under budget The work environment described here are representative of the chemical industry. Planning Function

* Routinely contributes to the planning of realistic production capacity based upon analysis of preventive maintenance requirements and failure history

* Requisitions equipment, components, tooling and spare parts in support of reliability efforts

* Inspects new, used and repaired equipment, components, tooling and spare parts to ensure conformance with procurement standards and engineering specifications

* Confers with engineers, technical assistants, and supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments

REQUIRED EDUCATION:

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.





Experience in Preventive Maintenance strategies, Root Cause Analysis techniques, SAP, and Microsoft Office is strongly preferred.



Education and Experience

The successful candidate must have Bachelor s degree (B.S.) from an accredited college in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline with 3 to 5 years chemical process engineering and/or maintenance/reliability engineering experience. The candidate must be capable in leading teams to accomplish goals and objectives.

The employee is regularly required to stand, talk, and hear. The employee is frequently required to walk, sit for periods of time, use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and depth perception.
