The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Dartmouth College invites applications for a Science Communication and Outreach Assistant, who will serve as a resource for the communications and public outreach efforts of the department. Responsibilities of the position may include collecting and writing updates on the science results and activities of the department (including the department newsletter and website), organizing, updating, and presenting information about course offerings and events, and organizing public outreach programs. The successful candidate will have strong science writing and communication skills and experience in organizing collaborative projects. A degree in a scientific field and/or a background in scientific communication are preferred, but not required.

POSITION PURPOSE

To communicate the scientific and educational activities of the department to the Dartmouth community and the general public, through department publicity resources such as the website or the department newsletter.

To facilitate the department s public outreach programs, including those supported by external funding agencies.
