JOB DESCRIPTIONJob Summary
This position involves conducting a variety of tasks for the Office of Strategic Research Initiatives (OSRI) within the HMRI Executive Administration, including: assisting with, participating in, or spearheading the writing of grant applications and research proposals for both scientific and lay audiences; writing or editing scientific manuscripts for publication; preparing relevant laboratory and clinical documents, protocols, consent forms, and progress reports for submission to granting agencies; preparing website content pertaining to OSRI; and coordinating with a creative graphics specialist to produce exceptional quality proposals and presentations.
Specific duties include: assisting with or spearheading the writing of grant applications, proposals or other presentation materials; writing and editing strategic scientific articles for publication; helping to interpret data and research objectives, and then advising investigators on the best presentation strategy, in view of external agency requirements; editing and compiling reports or appendices of documents related to scientific or clinical studies; helping to coordinate all strategic writing projects; working with others to meet specific requirements (document content, format, guidelines, others) of sponsors or publishers; helping to ensure that submissions remain in compliance with internal (HMRI) and external (funding agency, government agency, others) policies; and other duties as assigned.

* Work with team members and investigators on various projects and reports

A Bachelor degree in a relevant field is required. A graduate degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in a biological science field is preferred.
Three-plus years of experience in scientific writing/editing are required. Preference is given to a candidate with experience in writing and editing biomedical manuscripts for publication, and familiarity with the grants application process.

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
An excellent understanding of scientific/medical terminology and basic sciences
Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills
Excellent organizational skills, attention to details, and the ability to work productively on multiple projects with competing deadlines
Excellent computer skills with programs such as the Microsoft Office suite, EndNote/Reference Manager, and the Adobe suite
Ability to work effectively and collegially on a close-knit team
Exceptional interpersonal skills
